District Director's Email
District Director Simmons knows his first ministry is at home and takes wife to historic Charleston and still gets to participate in a great Ranger event.
Jerri and I just returned from a wonderful weekend in Charleston. We spent last Thursday in the historic district touring the old houses and enjoying the great food. Friday and Saturday were the dates of the Southeast Royal Rangers Regional Commanders Conference (SERROCC). It was one of the best Ranger conferences I have been to. We had a very good representation from our district. Special thanks to Buddy Rickman for arranging the bus from Pensacola First. No SERROCC next year due to Camporama. In 2013, we will hold a SERROCC in Puerto Rico. You are invited if you desire. I wouldn't miss it!
Coming up in the next two months, we will be teaching a Ranger Essentials in Delta Division and another one in Alpha Division. This is a great class, and it is designed to be used in conjunction with Ranger Basics. But it makes no difference which class is taken first. So, sign up as many leaders as possible. I will let you know when we have dates cemented.
I would like to have a District Ranger Leaders Conference on Saturday, August 27. This would be an all-day event, and include presentations regarding the many changes in Rangers, a Divisional Breakout, and plans for the Upcoming Ranger Explosion (Pow Wow). Please let as many leaders and older boys know as possible, so we can have a lot of people partake. I will check to find out if we can use the district campgrounds.
